Share Add Us On Google Add as a preferred source on Google CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - An Illinois man accused of sexually abusing a four-year-old girl in 2024 has been convicted by a jury.
Darren Barnett, who is from Tinley Park, Illinois, was convicted of second-degree sexual abuse on Wednesday.
Documents show the mother of the victim found Barnett in the victim’s bedroom inappropriately touching her in a Cedar Rapids apartment in 2024.
He told police he fell on the floor in the victim’s bedroom. His DNA was found on the victim.
Barnett will be sentenced at a later date. He faces up to 25 years in prison, with a mandatory minimum of 70% served before he is eligible for parole.
