Indianapolis Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon took over as principal owner and CEO of the Colts after her father, longtime owner Jim Irsay, passed away in 2025, and she has been a fixture on the sideline in recent seasons. Irsay-Gordon was heavily involved in the franchise even before her father’s death, having spent more than a decade as vice chair and co-owner, but since ascending to the role of principal owner, she has taken on a very hands-on approach during games.
However, The Ringer’s Bill Simmons is over it, and believes that any other owner wearing a headset and talking to coaches on the sideline during a game would be chastised for it.
“I’m not gonna tiptoe around this anymore. And I know it’s been a topic the last couple of weeks; I think the owner on the sidelines taking notes is f*cking nuts. I think it’s nuts! I think it’s bonkers!” Simmons ranted on his latest podcast. “I can’t believe she does this, and I can’t believe people in her life haven’t talked her out of it.
