India's GreenLine Mobility Solutions announced plans on Monday to allocate approximately $46 million (4 billion rupees) toward expanding its electric truck fleet dedicated to Hindustan Zinc. This investment aims to replace traditional diesel-powered vehicles with eco-friendly electric alternatives. Hindustan Zinc, which has committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, will utilize these electric trucks to transport materials between its mining sites and smelting facilities.
The funds will also facilitate the development of a large-scale battery swapping network and will enable the company to double its liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered truck fleet to 200 units, enhancing its long-distance logistics capabilities. This move aligns with Hindustan Zinc's broader strategy to reduce emissions from its logistics operations.
Earlier in April, GreenLine pledged a $275 million investment to accelerate the decarbonization of heavy-duty trucks, underscoring its commitment to lowering transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions.
