Indiana to Establish 'Speedway Slammer' Detention Center for Illegal Immigrants in Bunker Hill

Indianapolis's local Fox affiliate reports that a new detention facility is slated to open in Indiana, dubbed the "Speedway Slammer." Governor Mike Braun announced collaboration with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to utilize the Miami Correctional Facility in Bunker Hill, located north of Kokomo, for housing undocumented immigrants. U.S. Department of Homeland Security Director Kristi Noem stated on Tuesday that the prison will offer up to 1,000 beds dedicated to this purpose. She emphasized that individuals residing in the U.S. illegally could be detained at this new site.
