Groundbreaking Ceremony for Innovative AI-Enabled Recycling Plant in Commerce City, Colorado
On August 4, 2025, a significant milestone was achieved as AMP and Waste Connections inaugurated a pioneering recycling facility in Commerce City, Colorado. This state-of-the-art greenfield plant, set to open in 2026, will feature the advanced AMP ONE™ system, designed to enhance recovery rates, automate specific material streams, and increase processing capacity through ongoing software updates.
The facility is capable of handling up to 62,000 tons of single-stream recyclables annually, with minimal manual oversight. Driven by artificial intelligence, the AMP system continuously optimizes its operations by detecting jams, assessing material purity, and adjusting to line changes seamlessly. This integration ensures more efficient processes and improved recovery outcomes.
AMP will oversee the operation and maintenance under a performance-guaranteed, pay-per-ton arrangement. This model allows Waste Connections to focus resources more effectively while benefiting from reduced costs, enhanced material purity, and reliable data analytics.
