Now that the Los Angeles Chargers find themselves 0-1 to start the 2026 NFL season, the team has begun to look at other avenues to improve their roster and look to turn their season around. This, along with the injuries mounting in the Bolts' wide receiver room, makes the idea of working out a veteran receiver make too much sense.
On Sept. 15, 2026, the Tuesday after their loss, the Chargers decided to announce they are working out Marquez Valdes-Scantling, a long-time NFL wide receiver with plenty of postseason experience. Valdes-Scantling, also known as "MVS," was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and has spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers. He also spent the 2026 preseason with the Dallas Cowboys, where he was released on August 30.
