CHICAGO, Ill., — That was a tough game to watch, from start to finish. The obvious concern for every Chicago Bears fan on the planet is the status of quarterback Caleb Williams, who left the game halfway through the fourth quarter with a leg injury that knocked him out for the rest of the game. The good news? The Bears communications account posted that it's a hamstring injury for the former No. 1 overall pick.
Now, on to the afternoon. The Bears offense came crashing back down to earth in week 2 after a 59-point outing in week 1. Under Ben Johnson, Chicago has yet to beat the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field. Minnesota has only played in Chicago twice during the Johnson era and both games were winnable, but the Bears ultimately found a way to lose.
Focusing on the defensive side of the ball, the good news is that the defense was slightly better in Week 2, holding the Vikings to zero touchdowns and three field goals. The elements played a role all afternoon as the rain continued to pour down, making the surface wet and slippery on an afternoon when the running game for both teams was the focal point of the offense.
