Iran and Pakistan have agreed to establish a jointly operated border crossing to streamline trade and strengthen bilateral relations. Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran, Foroud Asgari, announced that both nations signed an official agreement to facilitate coordinated customs inspections at the shared border. This arrangement will enable digital exchange of customs declaration data, aiming to speed up cargo clearance and enhance operational efficiency.
The new border gate is expected to simplify the movement of travelers and vehicles, increase transparency in trade activities, and bolster international cooperation in combating smuggling. Additionally, on August 3, Iran and Pakistan signed 12 agreements covering sectors such as tourism, agriculture, justice, industry, science and technology, transit, cultural heritage, and trade during a meeting in Islamabad.
This development marks a significant step toward deeper economic integration and regional partnership between the two countries.
