The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown/Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton cross country teams took the course at the NRHEG Invitational on Tuesday. The field included teams like Blooming Prairie, Maple River, Medford, Randolph, USC among others.
The boys squad finished fourth out of seven teams while the girls also placed fourth, although in this case out of five teams.
On the girls side Norah Welvaert paced the squad with a seventh place finish and a time of 21:04.8. MaKenzie Westphal was next up with a 20th place effort and a time of 22:54.9 just ahead of teammates Madalyn Miller and Lydia Coulsey in 26th and 27th with times of 24:31.1 and 24:32.1.
Emma Huelsnitz and Hailey Heinz rounded out the group finishing 41st and 45th in a field of just over 50 runners.
For the boys Wyatt Jans placed third with a time of 17:28.6 which marked his best run of the season. Teagan Mulder was not that far behind on the podium with a finish of 18:27.9, good enough for ninth.
Wesley Heinz and Brennan Welvaert finished 24th and 25th about 11 seconds apart while Parker Smith and Dalton Ling rounded out the day for the Grizzlies.
