Jim Johnston Details How He Began Working For WWE In 1985

Jim Johnston, who was the music composer for WWE for over 30 years, recently recalled how he came to work for the company. Johnson worked for WWE from 1985 until his his release in 2017. During that time, he composed some of the most famous entrance themes of all time for the likes of The Rock, The Undertaker, Steve Austin and many more.

Johnston was a guest on Ropes N Riffs, and during the conversation he was asked how he began working with the company. You can see the highlights below:

“I met a guy at a sushi bar. And this was back in the days when there were no sushi bars here, so it was just a Japanese restaurant with a great Japanese chef who decided to try a sushi bar, and he set up a little thing with about six chairs. So it was like going to your local bar. You saw the same — I don’t know, six to ten people every time you went. And I sort of

recognized this guy and we would say hi, and one night he comes in and said, ‘Didn’t you say you write music? I have to put together a video for my boss, and I know how to put together the visual but I have no clue how to put together music...
