Residents of Jimrawa Town Protest Government Neglect Amid Rising Insecurity
Residents of Jimrawa town in Kauran Namoda Local Government Area, Zamfara State, have organized a demonstration in Gusau to protest the government's perceived neglect of their community amidst rising insecurity caused by bandit activities. The villagers, predominantly subsistence farmers, have been displaced for nearly two years due to relentless attacks by armed bandits.
Community's Grievances and Past Promises
In a statement issued on behalf of the community, Muhammed Ibrahim Jimrawa lamented, "Our farmlands are now fully taken over by criminals, making them inaccessible even during the rainy season, which is vital for our farming activities."
This marks their second protest in the state capital within a few weeks. During their initial demonstration, they received assurances from the spokesperson for Governor Dauda Lawal, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, that prompt measures would be implemented to restore peace and facilitate their return home.
