Joan Marie Easton, 96, of South Abington Township, peacefully entered eternal life on Sunday. A woman of extraordinary courage and uncommon grace, she had a heart so vast there was always room for one more person to love. Her life was a beautiful testament to devotion — to family, to love, and to the quiet acts of kindness that left an everlasting imprint on those fortunate enough to receive them. The most amazing part is that because of her extraordinary selflessness and grace, she couldn’t see how incredible she was, but we could.
Born in Scott Twp., she was the daughter of the late Stanley Sr. and Josephine Meka Kazmierski, and a member of St. John Vianney Parish, Montdale. She was a graduate of Scott High School and received an associate degree from Lackawanna College.
Just as the first half of the 20th century came about, and with courage beyond her years, she boarded a bus, traveling solo to our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., where this tender-aged, brave farm girl built a new life in a big city with both determination and grace.
