ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – It’s our next installment of our Joe Gilbert Watch in the NFL.
This week, Horseheads native and Carolina Panthers offensive line coach, Joe Gilbert, will prepare his lineman for a road test in Cleveland. The Panthers will face the Browns on the road with a 1 pm kickoff on FOX. Both teams come into Sunday with (1-1) records and fresh off their first victories of the season.
Carolina cruised over the Atlanta Falcons 34-3 last week while the Browns outlasted Gilbert’s former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 23-19 in week two. This Sunday will also mark the second consecutive road game for the Panthers who will return home vs. the Detroit Lions on Sunday, October 4.
Gilbert, now in his third season with the Panthers, won a Super Bowl as an offensive line coach with the Bucs with the legendary Tom Brady at quarterback in 2021. Joe has been in coaching since 1987 in the college and professional ranks. Gilbert has NFL stints with the Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Bucs and now Carolina Panthers that span nearly 20 total years at the highest level.
