Johannes Mayrhofer has been appointed the new Secretary General of the Austrian Equestrian Federation (OEPS) as of 1 October 2026.
He succeeds Franz Schiefermair, whose contract expired in April. Mayrhofer was chosen at the board meeting on 1 September.
The 44-year old Mayrhofer is the current Vice President, who "brings many years of experience in equestrian sport, tournament organization, and horse breeding," OEPS stated.
In 2016, Mayrhofer was elected chairman of the Austrian Warmblood Breeding Association (AWÖ) and, in this role, was heavily involved in promoting domestic horse breeding. In 2018, he succeeded Karl Platzer as managing director of the Stadl-Paura Equestrian Center. Since the end of April 2026, Mayrhofer has been a member of the OEPS Executive Board and holds the position of Vice President.
