SAN FRANCISCO — Young golfer John Daly II has advanced to the match play stage of the 2025 U.S. Amateur at Olympic Club.
Impressive Performance on the Ocean Course
Daly, the son of two-time major champion John Daly, delivered an impressive performance on Tuesday, shooting a 3-under 67 on the Ocean Course. His total score of 1-over 141 comfortably places him within the cut line, earning him his first appearance in the match play portion of this premier amateur tournament.
Player's Remarks and Performance Details
"I started off — I missed the fairway on the first hole but responded well with a solid 10–15 foot putt. Today, I putted extremely well," Daly remarked. "Even when I hit less-than-perfect tee shots, I managed to recover, and my putting was exceptional."
His round included five birdies against two bogeys. While his final seed will be determined after the completion of stroke play Tuesday evening, he is expected to secure a top-25 seed heading into the knockout rounds.
