A Joliet Illinois man stopped for speeding now faces several drug and weapon charges.
According to court records, 26-year-old James Faint was heading west on East Court Street and observed by an officer heading the other way driving above the speed limit. After forward facing radar confirmed his speed, a stop was initiated.
Faint allegedly began to walk away from the vehicle. When officers stopped him at the driver’s side door, an odor of marijuana was allegedly observed, with cannabis packaging and a cannabis tray reportedly seen in plain view in the driver’s side door.
A subsequent search of the vehicle, and two bags were allegedly located in the trunk with a 9mm handgun located between them. Faint reportedly admitted to owning the bags. Burnt cannabis was allegedly found among the packaging.
Faint reportedly showed signs of intoxication, including the odor of ingested alcohol. After being placed under arrest for OWI, a Datamaster test showed his breath-alcohol level at .149 percent.
