Sterling Carvalho, the former head football coach at Kahuku High School, has been unsuccessful in obtaining a court order to immediately return to his coaching position. According to Hawaii News Now late Friday, the judge rejected Carvalho's request for a preliminary injunction after determining he did not demonstrate a sufficient likelihood of success or irreparable harm.
Carvalho was dismissed in March following an investigation that concluded he had fostered a hostile environment for a former player, linked to social media comments made by the player's father criticizing the coach. In response, Carvalho filed a lawsuit last month, seeking to overturn his termination and requesting an injunction to reinstate him. A court hearing on Monday, July 28, addressed this matter.
Despite the injunction denial, Carvalho's legal team indicated the lawsuit will proceed.
