Robert F. Kennedy Jr., serving as Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Donald Trump, made a startling announcement on Tuesday regarding mRNA vaccines and their impact on the COVID-19 pandemic. In a video shared on X by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Kennedy stated that comprehensive scientific reviews indicate that the vaccines, which were mandated to curb the virus, may have inadvertently contributed to the emergence of variants and prolonged the pandemic.
Kennedy explained that the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), after evaluating 22 investments in mRNA vaccine development, has begun canceling these projects. He emphasized that the data demonstrate these vaccines do not effectively prevent infections like COVID-19 and influenza.
"We reviewed the science, listened to the experts, and took action," Kennedy tweeted.
