Following a disappointing 2024 campaign, the Kentucky Wildcats are reassessing their quarterback lineup. The team faced offensive challenges last season, ranking in the bottom 25 nationally in points scored, completion rate, passing yards, and passing touchdowns among 134 FBS teams, after three years of featuring NFL-caliber quarterbacks Will Levis and Devin Leary.
During the winter transfer window, Kentucky added Zach Calzada, a former Incarnate Word standout. Meanwhile, their primary quarterback for 2024, Brock Vandagriff, announced his retirement, despite having an additional year of eligibility remaining.
Last season, fans saw freshman Cutter Boley, a four-star recruit from Lexington Christian Academy, get playing time in four games. Many anticipated Boley would become the team's future starter.
"Zach is currently taking about 75% of the reps with the ones," offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan stated. "We aim to keep Cutter engaged and prepared to step in when needed, even if he isn't starting right now."
