Knights Drop First of the Year vs. Firebirds

The London Knights faced their first loss of the season Sunday afternoon, falling 7-2 to the Flint Firebirds at Canada Life Place.
Not exactly the result London was hoping for after an undefeated run to start the season.
Heading into Sunday's matchup, the Knights sat at the top of the Western Conference while the Flint Firebirds were among the conference's bottom teams.
Just 29 seconds into the game, newly appointed Flint captain Jimmy Lombardi opened the scoring with a wrap-around goal. Flint defenceman Lucas Nutting made it 2-0.
The Knights battled through a 5-on-3 penalty kill unscathed, but Flint carried a two-goal advantage into the second period.
London came out hungry for a comeback and got the building going when Alex Campeau dropped the gloves with Flint's Zack Bleick in the most heated exchange of the afternoon.
Flint added another on the power play before London finally found the back of the net; Thomas Zocco with his fourth goal of the season, to put the Knights on the board.
