Knights of Columbus raise over $10K for Chipley retirement home

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A local Catholic fraternal organization is ensuring retired church leaders receive the care and comfort they deserve.

Members of the Knights of Columbus in Panama City Beach gathered at Topgolf on Saturday for a charity golf tournament, raising more than $10,000 to assist a nearby retirement home in Chipley.

The home is operated by nuns who care for Catholic priests following decades of parish service. After the facility recently lost its volunteer landscaper, organizers decided to step in so the sisters would not have to worry about maintaining the one-acre property.

The funds raised will cover the home’s commercial lawn care and landscaping services for the next three to four years.

“I just absolutely love it,” said Tom Fagan, Grand Knight of the local council. “Just knowing that the end result is going to be these little nuns that do not expect to get anything. And they’re going to have all their wishes come true and then some, it makes us feel even better.”
