Korean Actor Song Young-Kyu Passes Away at 55, Known for 'Extreme Job'
Renowned Korean actor Song Young-kyu, known for his role in the 2019 blockbuster "Extreme Job," was discovered deceased on Monday. According to authorities and local sources, he was found by an acquaintance inside a vehicle at a residential complex in Yongin, just south of Seoul, at approximately 8 a.m. Earlier this year, Song was involved in a drunk driving incident in Yongin, with a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit for license suspension. The case was forwarded to prosecutors and was pending formal charges. Following the incident, he was removed from two ongoing television dramas—"The Defects" and SBS’s "The Winning Try"—as well as the stage production "Shakespeare in Love." With a career beginning in 1994, Song appeared in over 40 TV dramas and numerous films over three decades, including roles in "Hwarang," Netflix’s "Narco-Saints," and Disney+’s "Big Bet." He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
