Senior midfielder McKinley Wilson delivered late-game magic at the Madisonville-North Hopkins Soccer Field on Tuesday, tapping home the decisive goal to seal a thrilling 4-3 victory over Bowling Green High School.
The Lady Maroons (10-5) rallied in comeback fashion, shaking off an early deficit to take down the Lady Purples in an instant thriller at MNHHS.
"I think it was a great bounce back, especially from our game on Saturday," assistant coach Ellen Tichenor said. "They showed heart, they showed determination, so we're proud of that effort tonight."
Riley Richardson proved to be an impact player when Madisonville needed a spark, netting a goal and providing an assist to pull her team back into contention.
"Riley had a really great game," Tichenor said. "I thought she made plays when we needed it most, and she was an impact player tonight."
When the match hung in the balance near the end of regulation, Richardson found Wilson breaking through the middle.
"I saw an opening coming through the middle space, and Riley, my teammate, played a beautiful ball through my way," Wilson said. "I took my time, had some composure... I saw the opening, and I just tapped it in."
