DESOTO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) - A crime that occurred in 2019 in DeSoto Parish, which resulted in a federal criminal prosecution, continues to play out in the legal system.
Attorneys look to hold Louisiana State Police liable for their role after the beating incident that brought in the Department of Justice to investigate. The attorneys said the victim is still unable to recover.
"A person's life has been ruined by this singular incident. Justice delayed ultimately amounts to justice denied for the victim," said Nora Ahmed, ACLU Louisiana Legal Director.

"What is Louisiana State Police afraid of? What is the Desoto Parish Sheriff's office afraid of? Why don't you just show us the documents. If none exist you can say none exist. There must be something there that they don't want to reveal for them to go through the trouble of trying to get a judicial order that says we don't need to disclose the documents that were ultimately turned over during the investigation of the crime we now know was committed," Ahmed said.
