In 2025, our Republican supermajority state leaders passed Senate Enrolled Act. SEA 1 was touted as a property tax relief package – what little tax relief homeowners receive is because President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act (2025) made deep funding reductions to social safety net, health care and clean energy programs to offset the cost of extending tax cuts.
Indiana’s SEA 1 is creating severe revenue shortfalls for Indiana’s local governments and public schools. We need to vote for Democrats for greater political balance. We need to vote for candidates who don’t just appear around election time, but who are in communication with us throughout their tenure in office. We need to elect candidates who will work to make sure our local governments are not shortchanged by some illusion that what little relief we receive is going to offset the rising costs of gas, utilities, food, building materials, etc. It’s not.
