The Hatch Act makes using public tax dollars to campaign illegal. For this reason, last month’s political TV ads featuring Trump and stating “paid for by the U.S. government” were forced off the air.
This month, taxpayers funded a letter claiming Trump had provided $2 billion to improve Medicare and $50 billion in rural healthcare, but not mentioning the estimated $137 billion cut from those areas by the “Big Beautiful Bill.” The letter promised a $90 one-time payment, which does little for the Hubbard County resident that just had their Medicare Advantage plans entirely canceled or were forced off Affordable Care Act policies due to the price hikes.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is supposed to be an independent entity investigating such illegal actions. However, headed by Trumps’ personal lawyer, Todd Blache, the DOJ seems too busy challenging Alaska’s legal election outcome or being weaponized against Trump’s detractors. Recent examples, among many that stand out, include the raid on Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home and an unprecedented third indictment of James Comey.
