Update as of August 3 at 4:35 p.m., the Kinkaid Creek Complex fires in Okanogan County remain uncontained, spreading across 172 acres, according to the latest information from Northeast Washington Fire Authorities. The complex comprises two fires: the Kinkaid Fire covering 110 acres and the Nanamkin Fire at 62 acres. These fires were caused by lightning strikes.
Firefighters have established partial containment lines using dozers and hand tools around both fires. Aircraft support has been employed to cool hotspots and manage flare-ups, including two recent lightning-ignited fires from July 31 that were swiftly addressed. Today, crews are focusing on removing dangerous debris to ensure safety, as the fires are within previously burned areas.
Currently, there are no evacuation orders or road closures in place.
