Lil Yachty Recounts How Gingerbread Man Angle Was Pitched

Lil Yachty was part of the “Gingerbread Man” angle with Trick Williams and Sami Zayn, and he recently recalled how it was pitched. The whole angle involved Williams mocking Zayn by calling him the Gingerbread Man as a reference to his appearance, and it blew up from there. The whole thing led to Zayn destroying the Gingerbread Man costume that had come into play, followed by a “funeral” for the costume the next week where Yachty came out of the coffin and nailed Zayn.

Yachty recalled how the whole thing was “not supposed to work” in his interview on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, noting that it was very fun and that they just tried to make the most out of it.

On How the Gingerbread Man Angle Was Pitched To Him:

“So funny, it was not supposed to work. I remember when me and Trick got in, we were like, ‘Man, y’all sure?’ But then we just tried to make the most of it. When I got the gingerbread shirt printed and we did the song, and we were really clowning him [Sami Zayn].
