Hundreds of people braved summer heat approaching 100 degrees Sunday for the chance to sample offerings from dozens of food trucks that ringed Little Rock's 30 Crossing area at the Downtown Food Truck Festival.
Now in its 15th year, the festival began in 2011 as the Main Street Food Truck Festival, organized by the Downtown Little Rock Partnership as a way to bring people into the downtown area. That first year featured just a dozen trucks situated along Main Street from Third to Seventh streets and attracted some 3,000 people who quickly swamped the food vendors.
The event, which was later rebranded as the Downtown Food Truck Festival, continued to expand along Main Street until it was relocated to Capitol Avenue in 2024 before being moved last year to the 30 Crossing site following completion of the Interstate 30 bridge over the Arkansas River.
In addition to the 69 food trucks listed and dozens of arts and crafts vendors, a stage set up in the shade underneath I-30 featured various musical acts that mostly filled the large seating area by 11 a.m. Entertainment included bluegrass, country music and line dancing at the Main Stage venue.
