PICKAWAY TOWNSHIP — Logan Elm broke open a scoreless game in the second quarter and went on to defeat Liberty Union 33-14 Friday on Tarlton Road.
The Braves started with the ball after Liberty Union deferred and drove to the Lions’ 33-yard line, but Liberty Union stopped Logan Elm on fourth down.
The Lions appeared to fumble on their next possession, but an inadvertent whistle wiped out the play. Liberty Union later fumbled on fourth down, giving the Braves the ball at the Lions’ 44-yard line.
Logan Elm turned it over on downs, but the Lions then mishandled a snap and managed just a 4-yard punt. The Braves took over at the Liberty Union 39-yard line.
The first quarter ended scoreless.
Logan Elm finally broke through early in the second when Kyler Gummoe scored on a 9-yard run with 11:12 remaining. Noah McManus added the extra point for a 7-0 lead.
After a Liberty Union punt, the Braves drove down the field. Ayden Hartley was stopped just short of the end zone by a shoestring tackle, but Carter Congrove finished the drive with a 7-yard touchdown run. The extra point was no good, making it 13-0.
