KASSON — About five years ago, Kasson-Mantorville’s eighth-grade football team needed a quarterback.
It turns out Logan Louks was the guy for the job.

“My boys were like, ‘Yo, you can throw a good ball,’ so I decided to try it out that year, and just kind of stuck with it ever since,” Louks said.
Louks has served in the QB role in one capacity or another since then, on junior varsity and as the varsity backup to recent K-M graduate Grady Babcock.
“I had good guys to look up to,” said Louks, who is also a cornerback for K-M.
Now, Louks is in his third week starting behind center for the KoMets. It’s been an ideal situation so far for both parties as the KoMets are off to a 2-0 start.
Through K-M’s first two games, Louks has rushed for four TDs (174 yards) and thrown for four more (7-for-9, 176 yards) as the KoMets dismantle both St. Paul Central 61-0 and Minneapolis Washburn 44-14.
“It's been good,” Louks said. “We have a great group of guys. (I’m) just feeling them out and seeing what options I have for who and what's best, and just trying to get the ball into athletes’ hands.”
