The Lady Chieftain volleyball team delivered a sweep on Thursday, winning in straight sets (25-6, 25-11, and 25-15) at Groveport-Madison High School. As the season reaches the halfway mark, they now sit at 10-1 overall and 5-1 in league play, marking the best program start in recent history.
Sophomore setter Lila Kern ran the offense with 26 assists while adding two kills, two digs, a block, and an ace. Kern’s performance brought her total to 999 career assists, leaving her just one shy of the 1,000-assist milestone.
Outside hitter Taryne Spencer paced the attack with 11 kills, two aces, and two digs. Taylor Wadsworth contributed six kills, two aces, and two digs, while Olivia Walton added three kills. On defense, Allie Horn led all players with 20 digs and nine receptions. Bre Edgar recorded four aces, four digs, and nine receptions, while Gracen Grow anchored the back row with 11 digs and three receptions.
The victory was part of a complete program sweep. The Logan junior varsity squad improved to 9-2 with a 25-11, 25-20 win, while the freshman team won 25-18, 25-10 to bring their record to 8-3.
