Loving tribute to Michael Ballard: dedicated educator and cherished family man

Michael William Ballard, aged 79, of New Richmond, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. Born on September 18, 1945, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, he was the son of George and Luberta (Moore) Ballard. A proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin–River Falls in 1969, Mike further attained a master's degree in Education Administration. He dedicated over two decades as a school administrator in the New Richmond School District and later served three years as an elementary school counselor. On December 18, 1966, he married Susan (Wesley) Ballard. The couple built a life centered around family and service, residing along the Willow River for 47 years. Mike was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, leaving behind his wife Susan; children Michael (Jenny) Ballard and DeAnn (Pete) Halverson; and four grandchildren—Mallory, Sophie, Jackie, and Maddie. He also is survived by his brothers, George (Geri) of Crivitz, WI, and Ray (Georgiann) of Canfield, OH, along with nephews JR (Jenni) Ballard and Scott (Kris) Bibeau.
