LUXEMBURG (NBC 26) — Out of the classroom and into a career: the Youth Apprenticeship Program at Luxemburg-Casco High School allows students to earn school credit while working a paid job.
- Luxemburg-Casco High School participates in the
Northeast Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Programthrough the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. - Students can earn school credit while working a paid job in their desired career field.
- Students can choose between a variety of job opportunities, from agriculture to healthcare.
Ethan Werner is a senior and double athlete at Luxemburg-Casco High School. Three days a week, he works at the local Nicolet National Bank branch, while at the same time, earning school credit towards graduation.
“By me going to something with finance, I really enjoy that, I feel like my qualities best align with that, so I feel like I’m just my best self when I’m over there," Werner says.
After his older brother found success in the program, Werner became a youth apprentice as a sophomore. When he joined, Werner says he didn't know what he wanted out of a career.
