Making Strides Foundation to host benefit concert for multiple sclerosis

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Making Strides Foundation is hosting a benefit concert for folks with multiple sclerosis and other disabilities.

The concert will feature Ellisville native Krista Overby, Hattiesburg High School Resonance Choir, and jazz recording artist Ben Tankard.

The foundation was co-founded by Piney Grove Baptist Church pastor Anthony McCullum’s wife, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis about 20 years ago.

After seeing how hard a disability can affect a family, McCullum and his wife do what they can to help those who need assistance.

“We’re still trying to find ways on how to help others. We didn’t know how strenuous and how challenging it was with disabilities,” McCullum said. “Now that we’ve learned, we’re always asking ourselves the question, simply as Romans 15:1-2 says, ‘How can I help?’ We want to help in any way we possibly can.”

The concert is Sunday, Nov. 1, at 5 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Hattiesburg High School. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
