Share Add Us On Google Add as a preferred source on Google ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A Georgia man has died after he was hit by a vehicle in St. Clair County.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said 21-year-old Jose Daniel Hernandez Reyes, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, was killed after he was hit by a vehicle while standing in the roadway of I-20, near mile marker 152 within the Cook Springs city limits at 12:02 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20.
After Reyes was hit, ALEA said the vehicle then hit an unoccupied vehicle that was sitting stationary in the road and then hit a second person, 22-year-old Jennisfer Vanessa Vasquez, also of Lithia Springs, Georgia.
Officials said Reyes and Vasquez were involved in a previous crash and had exited their vehicle before they were hit. Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene and Vasquez was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment.
ALEA said an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
