Marquette City Commission approves grant for Senior Center’s arts programming
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A grant for the Marquette Senior Center was approved by the Marquette City Commission.
The grant comes from the Ray and Peg Hirvonen Foundation to help support the center’s arts program. The grant will offset $5,000 for expected expenses.
The city of Marquette’s Senior Services Manager Maureen McFadden says the arts programming is important as it helps connect those in the center to a variety of services.
“So, if you come to an arts class, you might get to meet people or get familiar with other types of services that we provide at the senior center, that can keep you living independently and aging well in your home,” McFadden said.
The Senior Center is free to attend if you live in Marquette, Marquette Township, Chocolay Township or Powell Township.
