The Marseilles City Council approved a resolution supporting an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program grant application for the first phase of its Main Street revitalization project. The proposed work would cover Main Street from the railroad tracks north of U.S. 6 and include new sidewalks, curbs, gutters, pavement and street lighting. Businesses would also be made accessible to people with disabilities.
The council also approved purchasing a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe from the Grand Ridge Fire Department for the city’s emergency services agency and approved the 2027 Fun Days permit for June 24-27.
Commissioner Jim Buckingham reported the city swimming pool finished the season about $30,110 in the red, compared with a roughly $27,305 loss last year. Officials also reported continued sanitary sewer lining on Illinois Street and surface replacement work on the Lincoln Street bridge over Gumm Creek.
