The Veterans at the Library held their "Annual Fish Fry" meeting at the Farmhouse Restaurant in Adrian Monday morning, September 21, at 11 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, they had 48 in attendance. Darlene Page, owner of Farmhouse Restaurant, and her four employees provided a fantastic fish fry for the Veterans at the Library. On the bar was brim, catfish on the bone, catfish fillet, shrimp, crab cakes, slaw, potato salad, baked beans, mashed potatoes, butter beans, biscuits, mixed salad, two deserts, and tea and lemonade. Veterans want to thank Darlene and her employees for a delicious meal.
Johnny introduced Mayor Sandra Bailes of Adrian, who is one of the Veterans at the Library, to give the history of Adrian. He then presented a check for $1,000.00 from Bill and Marci Simmons to Treasurer Scotty Nasworthy to be applied to the new Veterans Wall. Volunteer Gary Mason then presented Chair Johnny with a $250.00 check from Kendall Gross for the Wreaths Across America Project that will happen on Saturday, December 19, 2026.
