Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the St. Louis couple who garnered nationwide attention in 2020 after displaying firearms to protesters outside their residence, have successfully recovered one of the weapons involved in the incident following a lengthy legal battle.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Mark McCloskey is seen retrieving his AR-15 rifle from the custody of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. This firearm had been held since the 2020 event that attracted significant media coverage and political debate.
"It took three lawsuits, two court of appeals trips, and 1,847 days, but I finally got my AR-15 back!" McCloskey wrote in the post.
"We defended our home, faced persecution from the left, were smeared by the press, and received death threats, but we never gave up."
The couple, both lawyers, became known after a June 2020 incident where they stood outside their home in St. Louis's Central West End neighborhood, brandishing firearms as protesters passed by.
They claimed that protesters had broken through a gate marked with "No Trespassing" signs and entered their private neighborhood. No injuries were reported.
