Mercer Volleyball Sweeps Georgia State on Friday Night

MACON, Ga. – Mercer Volleyball came out swinging to sweep the Georgia State Panthers on Friday night in Hawkins Arena.

The Bears had to battle back late in the first set to extend it into a duece and took control from that point on, winning the next two points to take a 1-0 lead. The Bears didn't let go of the momentum for the rest of the match, holding a steady lead on the Panthers for the majority of the second and third sets en route to a 3-0 win.

SET 2 I 25-15

The Bears carried the momentum over from set one, taking an early 7-3 lead. The Panthers fought back to bring the deficit to within one, but Mercer put together two four-point runs to make the score 16-9 and eventually closed out the second set, winning 25-15.

SET 3 I 25-20

The Bears took the first five points of the third set and led 16-7 two-thirds of the way through the final set. The Panthers didn't go away, as they eventually clawed back to within three, but the Bears shut the door with a
