Following a second straight disappointing season, the New York Mets could have been tempted to hire a flashy name as their next manager, but the organization is letting player progression and clubhouse morale dictate their decision. Despite widespread speculation that he would return to the front office, Andy Green is shedding the interim label and signing a three-year contract to become the full-time skipper. Marcus Semien shared some nice words that explain why the Mets are making this move.
"I'm glad they did," the 2023 World Series champion and two-time Silver Slugger said regarding the Green news. "Everybody's happy. Since Andy stepped in, he's helped a lot of guys be a better version of themselves, and we've been playing a good brand of baseball. I'm happy we're going to have that continuity moving forward, and I'm extremely happy for him and his family."
