Mayo High School Senior Mia Banks Commits to Bemidji State University
Mayo High School senior Mia Banks has officially committed to join the women's basketball team at Bemidji State University. The decision was made on July 14, a day Banks describes as feeling right and relieving. "I felt a lot of relief afterward," she shared. "Knowing I’m heading to a reputable program where I will have opportunities to play fills me with excitement."
Excitement and Enthusiasm from Both Sides
Both Banks and Bemidji State’s coaching staff, led by head coach Chelsea Stoltenberg, are enthusiastic about the partnership. Recognized as one of the top three-point shooters in the state, Banks averaged 12 points per game last season, sinking 73 three-pointers at a 38% success rate. She also boasted a free-throw percentage of 78%, along with five rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. Her smooth shooting stroke and versatility—capable of driving to the hoop and showcasing physicality—have caught their attention.
