The 4-year old Miami Vice de Hus,, the 5-year old Lynch de Pelemeg, and the 6-year old Furstin Toto LH became the winners of the 2026 French Young Horse Championships held in Le Mans on 11 - 13 September 2026.
A System to the Madness
The French Young Horse Nationals are hosted by the Societe Hippique Française (SHF) and were held for ponies and horses. They work with a very complex system of parallel divisions: the "Cycle Classique" classes (championnat and criterium) and the "Cycle Libre" classes. Entries depend on the amateur or professional licence of the rider, but some riders can compete in both divisions nonetheless.
In addition, there are three rounds and the points get a coefficient. For the 4- and 5-year olds they have the preliminary test (coeff 0), a conformation class (coeff 0,3) and the Finals test (coeff 2). For the 6-year olds there is a coefficient of 9 for the preliminary test and a coefficient of 1 for the finals test, meaning the preliminary was just a warm-up round and only the finals test counted.
Eurodressage annually reports on the "cycle classique" division which is open to French registered or bred horses.
