Midland Pastor's Sexual Misconduct Trial: Court Determines Admissible Evidence

Court Hearing for Pastor James Randolph

Midland, Mich. (WNEM) — On August 12, a court hearing was held for James Randolph, a pastor from Living Word International Church, who faces multiple charges of criminal sexual conduct involving a minor.

Details of the Case

Randolph's arrest in November 2023 followed a testimony from an alleged victim, claiming that Randolph engaged in inappropriate touching starting when she was in sixth grade.

Hearing Decisions

During the hearing, the judge decided that Randolph cannot present an expert witness in his defense. Additionally, the victim’s personal journals will not be permitted as evidence in the upcoming trial.

Legal Considerations

The court also ruled that past convictions, including a 1980s sex crime involving a 15-year-old girl, are relevant and may be considered, whereas other prior allegations will be excluded.

Upcoming Trial

Randolph’s trial is scheduled to commence on August 21.
