Milton Fire Department buys new rescue equipment with $25,000 grant

MILTON, Fla. -- The Milton Fire Department now has new rescue equipment.

The department received new extrication tools last week, and have already had a chance to use them.

"This is the equipment commonly referred to as the 'jaws of life,'" said Milton Fire Chief John E. Reble. "That's a different name brand but this is the tool that we use to cut a car apart, if you've been involved in a vehicle accident, and you're entrapped in a vehicle. They are a very powerful tool. We've got spreaders and cutters, and they will tear the doors open, or cut the vehicle apart, and let us access the patient quickly."

The tools were paid for through a $25,000 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

This isn't the first time the Milton Fire Department has received grant money. In 2021, they received similar tools. Having two sets of tools will help the department better respond to emergencies.
