Montana Temperature Update and Weather Outlook
Temperatures across Montana soared into the mid-80s to mid-90s today, surpassing levels from 24 hours prior by two to twelve degrees. Southern regions of the state may experience minimal storm activity over the next few days due to a weak system, though radar indicates no thunderstorms are currently forming.
Upcoming Hot Weather and Fire Hazards
A high-pressure ridge is expected to bring another hot day on Wednesday, accompanied by increasing winds. Fire weather warnings are in effect for the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest and Flathead Reservation, with wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph and humidity levels dropping between 10% and 20%, heightening the risk of wildfires. A wind advisory is also in place for Flathead Lake, with gusts up to 30 mph.
Chance of Showers and Thunderstorms
Some energy will pass through central and southeastern Montana each afternoon, offering a slight chance of dry showers or thunderstorms, although any rain is likely to evaporate before reaching the ground. Gusty winds and lightning remain possible during these events.
