Montgomery County Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash Early Tuesday Morning

NEW CANEY, TX -- On September 15, 2026, at approximately 3:45 a.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an unresponsive male lying along the roadway who had reportedly been struck by a vehicle. The vehicle involved in the incident left the scene following the collision.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division deputies responded to the scene and began an investigation. Investigators with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Death Investigators Office are also assisting with the investigation.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The roadway and surrounding area remain closed as investigators continue processing the scene and gathering evidence.
