As Balloon Fiesta comes to a close, morning wind and cloud cover could be an issue. Sunday starts off mostly cloudy and mild with a slight rain chance. It will become partly cloudy, warm, and breezy in the afternoon. Western parts of the state could see peak gusts of 35 to 50 mph. Highs across the Albuquerque metro continue to trend above average, reaching into the upper 70s; around 70 degrees in Santa Fe. Scattered showers develop Sunday evening with rain ending by midnight, then skies gradually clear overnight into Monday morning.

Monday is a holiday for many, but don’t tuck the umbrella away just yet. Rain stays in the forecast on Monday and Tuesday with a few spotty showers possible. A cold front ushers in much cooler temperatures Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Lows will drop, and highs will trend below average into the weekend.
