RACINE, WI — A Mount Pleasant woman is charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle in the death of a Racine man who was struck on Hubbard Street early Sunday.
Adasia N. Jones, 22, faces a single felony count, according to a criminal complaint sworn Monday by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office. The charge is a Class D felony, punishable by up to 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. The complaint also invokes provisions requiring that, on conviction, the court impose a bifurcated sentence with at least five years of initial confinement unless it finds a compelling reason to impose less and states that reason on the record, and that the state revoke her driving privileges for five years.
Officers responded at 2:58 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, to a report of a vehicle-pedestrian crash with injuries in the 500 block of Hubbard Street, according to the Racine Police Department. A caller told dispatchers his neighbor had been run over and was not moving, according to police. The complaint puts the response at about 3 a.m.
The complaint identifies the man who died only by his initials. Police identified him as Darius Allen, 26, of Racine.
